Seeking highly motivated, self starter to manage the communications and media program for a busy, growing public employee union covering 40,000 workers statewide.

DUTIES: • Answer and direct all media inquiries
• Prepare news packets to advance organization in media
• Work with local unions on newsworthy activities
• Prepare quarterly newsletter to membership
• Prepare local union and bargaining unit newsletters
• Photography and video clip preparation
• Correspondence for political department
• Legislative session correspondence
• Design, prepare and output political mailing pieces for endorsed candidates
• Maintain Union website
• Advocate publicly and in the press for positions of the Union
• Oversee mailings of the Union
• Some travel required
• Other duties as assigned by Council 61 President

REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must possess: Excellent public speaking, writing and media relations skills.  Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs with emphasis in Excel, Publisher and Word, also use of FoxPro database and FrontPage. Photography skills are preferred.  College education with emphasis in public administration, communications, political science or related field is desired.
