Scholarships

The Education Department administers several scholarship programs for AFSCME members and their children. Below is a full list of scholarship opportunities available through AFSCME. Click on an individual scholarship to download an application and for information on requirements and deadlines.

  • AFSCME Family Scholarship
    $2,000 renewable scholarship awarded to 13 high school seniors each year.
  • AFSCME/UNCF: Union Scholars Program
    AFSCME has joined with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to let eligible college students experience what it's like to be part of the labor movement.
  • AFSCME Affiliate Scholarship Programs
    Many AFSCME affiliates have special scholarship programs designed to help their members pursue educational opportunities to advance on the job.
  • Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarship
    A collegiate scholarship for juniors and seniors who major in political science; it includes a summer internship in the AFSCME Political Action Department in Washington, D.C.
  • Jerry Wurf Memorial Fund
    Provides three scholarships for the six-week Harvard Trade Union Program for full-time AFSCME staff planning a career in the trade union movement or an AFSCME member holding an elected position who is willing to take leave.
  • Joey Parisi Scholarship
    Available to a staff person or local officer who is a full-time or release-time AFSCME organizer, this scholarship covers tuition to the National Labor College.
  • Nadra Floyd Memorial Scholarship
    A $2,000 renewable scholarship for AFSCME members and staff who would like to attend the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland.
  • Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship
    Helping more women and people of color become union leaders.
  • Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship
    This scholarship is for dues-paying union members or staff employees of an AFL-CIO affiliated organization interested in enrolling in the National Labor College.
  • Union Plus Scholarship
    Offered to current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program.
