A Big Hug for the Insurance Industry from House GOP

January 21, 2011

Republicans abandoned any pretense of caring about health care reform Wednesday. They gave the insurance industry one whopper of an embrace when they voted to throw out the many protections for America’s working families in the landmark Affordable Care Act.

AFSCME worked hard to pass health care reform and Pres. Gerald W. McEntee had some choice words for the politicians who were trying to kill it off: “Once again, Republican leaders are siding with the insurance industry and against working families by trying to end these important protections.”

Of course, at the same time Republicans were trying to take health care away from working families, they are getting the best for themselves. Americans United for Change point that out in a tv ad entitled “Good Enough for Them” this week:

President McEntee spoke for working families across the nation when he said “It’s time for Congress to get to work on the economy instead of repealing a law that will benefit millions of Americans and keep insurance companies in check.”
