AFSCME members in Ohio are furiously collecting signatures for the Senate Bill 5 citizens’ veto, moving well beyond traditional worksite actions to engage the public.

Several AFSCME offices across the state have "drive-by" hours where member volunteers are outside collecting petition signatures during certain hours. Concerned citizens can drive by the office at any time during the posted hours, be handed a petition to sign, and head on about their way.

As union members and the general public come out in droves to sign the petitions for a citizens’ veto, some elected bodies are also taking a stand for working families. On Wednesday, the Cincinnati City Council voted 5-4 to declare its opposition to SB 5.
