Day of Action
March 11, 2011
Saturday, “We are Wisconsin,” – a broad coalition of workers, students, civil rights and religious leaders and community supporters – will hold a massive rally at the state Capitol in Madison at 3 p.m. to protest the bill Gov. Scott Walker signed today, which strips away collective bargaining rights for public employees. This Day of Action is expected to draw the largest number of protestors from across the state since demonstrations begun four weeks ago. Tomorrow’s event represents a long-term commitment to keep the momentum of our struggle going, and to keep fighting like never before. “Our union will continue organizing members and bringing together supporters committed to restoring worker rights and fighting for justice,” said AFSCME Council 40 President Jim Garity, on behalf of AFSCME leaders in Wisconsin. “We have far more power than our opponents ever imagined. And this power will be on display this Saturday.” To keep the fight alive, please contribute to AFSCME Wisconsin Council 11’s emergency fund. Let’s stand with our Wisconsin sisters and brothers. Your donation will help them take their state back and help us take our country back. AFSCME is coordinating transportation routes across the state to bring members to the rally.
