Media Matters: Fraud Video Outed as a Fraud

by Clyde Weiss  |  July 27, 2011

A so-called undercover “sting” supposedly revealing alleged Medicaid fraud “not only fails to show any such fraud, it fully exposes” the investigator, James O’Keefe, as an illegitimate news source, according to Media Matters for America.

In O’Keefe’s video, a man seeking information about filing a Medicaid claim form for a relative in Indiana, tells a social service worker that he’s a drug smuggler, an announcer claims. In the video itself, however, he makes no such claim.

O’Keefe, a right-wing activist known for producing heavily edited, hidden camera investigations, has a history of dishonesty, reports Media Matters.

Watch out for this guy. He’s out to undermine Medicaid, and he’ll stop at nothing to make his case.
