On St. Patrick’s Day, Celebrate With a Union Beer

by Kate Childs Graham  |  March 15, 2012

St. Patrick's DayWhen St. Patrick’s Day arrives on Saturday make sure that if you raise a glass, it’s filled to the brim with union-made beer.

If you’re in the mood for a stout, you could have an Anheuser-Busch Bare Knuckle Stout or Mad River Steelhead Extra Stout. If you fancy a lager, reach for a Budweiser, Busch, Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve, Iron City, Labatt’s Blue, Lionshead, Michelob, or Pabst Blue Ribbon. If you are drawn to ale, try a Budweiser American Ale, Henry Weinhard's Blue Boar Pale Ale, or Moosehead Clancy's Amber Ale. Or if you plan to go all-out with some malt liquor, Mickey’s Malt or is for you.

Worried you’ll forget which ones to buy when you’re out? Union Plus is offering a handy service: text BEER to 22555 and they’ll respond with a list of the most worker-friendly suds right to your phone.

And in the words of the old Irish blessing, may the road rise up to meet you, and may it be paved by proud AFSCME public workers. OK, maybe we added that last part.
