Right-Wing Harassment Memo

August 05, 2009

As an update to our earlier post on townhall disruptions, the progressive web site ThinkProgress.org has posted additional information about the DC-driven right wing campaign to disrupt Congressional town hall meetings and destroy any productive dialogue on health care reform.

A widely-distributed conservative memo linked to the right-wing front group Americans for Prosperity encourages participants to disrupt members of Congress at their town hall meetings. The memo urges people to “rattle” members of Congress, to shout and yell in an attempt to undermine any civil discussion with constituents.

Too many opponents of health care reform are unwilling to have a real debate. How can anyone expect bipartisanship when one side is seeking to intimidate and shout down those who support reform?
