The convention begins 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Sheraton Cleveland Airport Hotel and runs through 3 p.m. Saturday.

Other speakers include AFL-CIO Sec.-Treas. Liz Shuler, American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Pres. Randi Weingarten, Communications Workers of America (CWA) Sec.-Treas. Annie Hill and UNITE HERE Community Organizer Cleve Jones. Jones began his activism working alongside gay pioneer Harvey Milk and later conceived the AIDS Memorial Quilt, which memorializes more than 85,000 Americans killed by AIDS.

Pres. Saunders will speak at the convention on Friday morning.

Pride at Work is the officially recognized lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender constituency group of the AFL-CIO, dedicated to mobilizing mutual support between the labor movement and the LGBT community. Members in chapters across the country organize to create progressive change at the local, state and national levels of government.

Working together with others in the LGBT and labor movements, Pride at Work was an important member of the coalitions that grew throughout the country in the past few years to fight against corporate-backed policies designed to destroy the voice of public service workers and undermine the progress of working middle-class families. AFSCME has been a longtime ally of Pride at Work since the birth of the organization and is proud of the important work it does to advance the cause of equality and opportunity for all.
