The Bain of Mitt’s Existence
by Kate Childs Graham | July 16, 2012
Mitt Romney said he left Bain Capital in 1999, but newly disclosed records show that he stayed three years longer. A Romney surrogate says Romney “retroactively retired,” forgetting that he remained legally responsible for the company and continued to be compensated as an executive.
Our question isn’t why he “retroactively retired,” but rather why he “retroactively stayed” at Bain. And we’ve put that question to the public on our new site www.bainofmittsexistence.com. So head to the site and tell us why you think Mitt stayed. Here are some of the early responses:
- I was so busy partying like it was 1999, I didn’t realize it was 2002.
- The employee handling regulations had their job outsourced to India.
- I liked being able to fire people THAT MUCH.
- It turns out public service didn’t pay as much as Sean Hannity said.
- I didn’t want to hurt Bain’s feelings – corporations are people too.
