Several Democratic presidential candidates wooed union voters Tuesday at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) leadership forum. … All morning, candidates tried to outdo each other in a show of support for unions.

Five Democratic presidential candidates tried to show they could relate to the working and middle classes Tuesday at a conference of 2,000 union members. ... This was AFSCME's second presidential forum of the year. Organization President Gerald W. McEntee said active campaign support from union members, and not just their votes, will help Democrats take back the White House. "We'll have a grassroots army that is second to none," he said.
