Program Facts

  1. Buying a home is one of the largest and most important purchases in most people's lives. And selling a home is often just as complicated. But that's where Union Member Mortgage and Real Estate comes in. This program helps take care of the complete mortgage and real estate process for union members and their sons, daughters and parents.
  2. The Union Member Mortgage and Real Estate program makes the mortgage application process easier and more affordable. One phone call puts members in touch with an expert mortgage consultant who can help find a mortgage suited to the member's needs.
  3. Members who list their homes for sale through a participating real estate agent, will receive a comprehensive home warranty plan (a $350 value) at no additional cost. This home warranty plan provides members with valuable protection from unexpected breakdowns in the home's mechanical system and appliances while their home is on the market, and for a full year after the home is sold. It also enhances the home's marketability.
  4. Members receive expert assistance from specially trained mortgage and real estate counselors. Union Member Mortgage and Real Estate is especially helpful to first-time home buyers. With flexible qualification guidelines and lower down payments, the program can help many first-time buyers realize the American dream of owning their own home. Under program qualification rules, individuals who meet specific program eligibility requirements may be eligible for down payments as low as 3 percent, as well as low-cost, no-points loans and expanded loan approval criteria.
  5. Strike and unemployment/disability benefits are available after an individual has had a Union Member Mortgage and Real Estate mortgage for one year. These unique benefits are available to assist with mortgage payments if a member (or his or her spouse) becomes unemployed as a result of a layoff or disability.

For program details or to apply for a mortgage over the phone (including in areas not covered by branch office locations), members of participating unions may call 1-800-848-6466.
