Washington, DC —

Doris Lee of Mililani has been appointed to the Nurse Advisory Committee for the United Nurses of America (UNA), the nursing branch of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, (AFSCME), AFL-CIO -- America’s largest public employee and health care workers union.

Doris brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to nursing that will help us return the focus of health care from the bottom line to its proper emphasis: providing quality health care that puts the patient first, " said Kathy Sackman, co-chair of the advisory committee, and President of the AFSCME-affiliated United Nurses of California, and an International Vice-President of AFSCME.

Doris is an RN employed at the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Public Health Branch. She is chairperson of the Unit 9 Oahu Island Division of HGEA/AFSCME Local 152.

The Nurse Advisory Committee of UNA is charged with bringing forward important nursing issues as well as charting the course of action for the nurses. UNA is the voice for over 45,000 nurses. Over 360,000 of AFSCME’s 1.3 million members work in health care jobs.
