Union Ads Say Bush Plan Is Bad for Working Families

8 Nobel Laureates and over 300 economic experts say "numbers don't add up"

WASHINGTON —

In an effort to educate the public on the fallacy of the George W. Bush proposed tax plan, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the AFL-CIO are running a full-page advertisement in major newspapers today in which leading economic experts denounce the Bush tax plan.

The full-page issue ad says that the Bush tax plan is "bad for America's working families." The ad is based on a letter signed by more than 300 leading economic experts opposing the large-scale cuts proposed by Bush.

The ad, paid for by the working men and women of AFSCME and the AFL-CIO, provides readers with a copy of the letter and then lists the names of the 300 leading economists. The headline reads "Under the George W. Bush Tax Plan, the Rich Get Richer," ending with "300 Economists Agree: The Bush Plan is Bad for America's Working Families."

The ad is running today in publications in the battleground states, North Carolina, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
