Book detailing Lucasville prison riot released nationwide
BLOOMINGTON, IN —On Saturday, November 8, 2003, 1st Book Publishing will announce the release of the book Siege in Lucasville. This year is the 10th anniversary of the nation’s longest prison riot at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility at Lucasville.
Praised by academicians and criminal justice professionals alike as "a must read for all serious corrections, criminal justice, and hostage negotiations professionals" and anyone with an interest in what happened inside one of Ohio's largest prisons. This is the only totally comprehensive written account to be widely available.
Congressman Ted Strickland, a former Lucasville employee has been invited to speak as well as Ohio Highway Patrol Lt. Howard Hudson who served as the lead post riot investigator. They will be joined by Michael Marette from AFSCME Corrections United in Washington, D.C., and Ohio Correction's Assembly President Timothy Shafer. Former Lucasville hostage Larry Dotson, about whom the book is written and author Gary Williams, as well as publisher's representative Matthew Patton, will also address those attending.
