AFSCME Presidential Endorsement
WASHINGTON —The International Executive Board of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, unanimously endorsed Democratic candidate John Kerry for President today. Senator Kerry formally accepted the endorsement today at AFSCME International headquarters, 1625 L Street, NW, in Washington, DC.
"Senator Kerry has a proven record of fighting for working families and a real plan to get this country back on track," said AFSCME President Gerald W. McEntee.
"We are proud to support a candidate who will stand up for America's workers, fight to keep good-paying jobs here in the United States and make sure every American has access to affordable healthcare," McEntee said. "With John Kerry, we can take back the White House from a President who works for the corporations and the very rich instead of working families."
McEntee added that AFSCME will run its "most aggressive member mobilization program ever."
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, is one of the nation's largest and fastest growing public service employees union with 1.4 million members.
