AFSCME Praises Democratic Leadership for Plan to Clean Up GOP-Led Government

For too long, the GOP has treated the White House and the halls of Congress like a playground for special interests. Their rules — cronyism and corruption — have created a government has lost its moral compass.

Today, Congressional Democrats announced a plan to clean up an institution run amuck. It's a good start. It is time to crack down on a government by and for special interests and help foster the honest and open government the American people need and deserve.

We're calling on the Republicans to join with the Democrats in crafting legislation to stamp out ethical anarchy. Now's the time for bipartisan action.

AFSCME's 1.6 million members provide the vital services that make America happen. With members in hundreds of different occupations — from nurses to corrections officers, child care providers to sanitation workers — AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.
