Statement of AFSCME Pres. McEntee in response to “Gang of Six” proposal
Washington, DC —“The proposal released by the “Gang of Six” is not a path forward for the country. Instead of taking the road of shared sacrifice, this plan has swerved off track. It reserves almost all of the pain for ordinary Americans. It reduces taxes on the wealthy while cutting Social Security benefits for seniors and people with disabilities. It would kill jobs and put our economy into another recession. The plan makes enormous cuts in health care programs. And the plan would destabilize employer-sponsored health care coverage for 160 million Americans. It’s time to focus on jobs and stop putting Wall Street before Main Street.”
