Standing Up for Ohio Families

By

Columbus, Ohio

AFSCME’s four Ohio affiliates showed up in great force—braving bitterly cold winds—to join some 10,000 unionists at a November rally held here to support working people and families throughout the state.

Members of the AFSCME Ohio Retiree Chapter 1184, AFSCME Ohio Council 8, Ohio Civil Service Employees Association OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11, and Ohio Association of Public School Employees OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4 marched across the Broad Street Bridge to the Ohio State Capitol. Participants came in buses, carpools, and vans from across the state.

"We’re not backing down,” the newly elected AFL-CIO Sec.-Treas. Rich Trumka told the crowd. “It was labor who saved the middle class during the Depression. It will be labor who saves the middle class today.”
