AFSCME Members Are Election Winners
Members of AFSCME ran for -- and were elected to -- a variety of posts this year. Here are some of our AFSCME winners. California--Local 146 Pres. Gary Miller was re-elected to the Robla School District in Sacramento; Gloria Keene, a member of Local 2703, was re-elected to the Merced Board of Supervisors. Illinois--Local 799 member Eric Gregg was elected to the Saline County Board; Rick Bard, from Local 415, won his race for the Gallatin County Board. Iowa Council 61 Staff Rep. Todd Taylor was re-elected to the Iowa House; Staff Rep. Steve Siegel won his bid for a Wapello County Supervisors slot. They join Local 3209 members Dick Dearden and Bob Dvorsky who are currently serving as state senators. In Minnesota, Council 14 Business Agent Luanne Koskinen was elected to the state legislature; Council 6 Exec. Board Member Jo Pels was elected to the Cass County Board. Local 2260 member James Taylor from New Mexico's Bernalillo County was elected to his second term in the statehouse. New York--CSEA/AFSCME Local 1000 member Steven Labriola was elected to the state assembly. Wisconsin--Local 990 member Edna Highland was elected Kenosha County Clerk; Local 2491 member Greg Huber and Local 1091 member Spencer Coggs won their re-election bids for the state assembly.
