In the first months of the new year, AFSCME is presenting two important conferences: one designed for nurses, the other for all those concerned about legislative initiatives in vital subject areas.

From March 26-28, AFSCME’s annual Legislative Conference will be held at the Capitol Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C. On the agenda: preserving Social Security, passing the Patients’ Bill of Rights, budget and tax cuts, privatization and other key issues affecting working families.

Those interested in attending should contact their local presidents or council directors.

Members of AFSCME’s nursing community will want to attend the 8th National Nurses Congress, April 20-23, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. The conference, held once every two years, builds unity and focuses attention on such critical workplace issues as mandatory overtime, nursing shortages, medical errors and occupational hazards.
