Gold in the AFSCME Family
COLUMBUS, OHIO
Last summer, Linda Bozeman traveled to Athens to watch her daughter, Moushaumi Robinson, run in her first Olympics — and win a gold medal for the 4 X 400m relay in track and field. Bozeman is a member of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association/AFSCME Local 11.
"Moushaumi has always had the desire to run and to win a gold medal," says Bozeman. "She is very disciplined about her training." She won the Ohio state 400-meter championship twice in high school, and in college was NCAA outdoor runner-up three times in the same event. Robinson was one of eight college athletes chosen for the cover of Sports Illustrated on Oct. 7, 2002. The 23-year-old graduate of the University of Texas/Austin is now training for the 2005 World Games.
Bozeman is still celebrating her daughter's victory and remembering what she calls "the trip of a lifetime. It was wonderful. I spent time with people from different cultures and saw the things that are important to them."
