AFSCME Members on "Wheel"
COLUMBUS, OHIO
Get ready to stand up and cheer as three of our AFSCME brothers and sisters compete on America’s favorite game show, "Wheel of Fortune," during a special Salute to America’s Working Families series to be aired Labor Day week.
AFSCME contestants, each joined by one relative, will compete against nine other members of AFL-CIO affiliated unions for American-made prizes. The five-night series will begin Sept. 1.
The path to the August taping at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus has not been easy. Contestant wannabes competed against one another at three regional try-outs. The lucky AFSCME competitors are:
- Patricia Hennessey, 41, of AFSCME Local 1067 (Council 93), works as a Clerk 3 in the grant office at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass. She will compete with her sister Christine Flatley.
- Christopher Fay, 23, of AFSCME Local 419 (Council 93), is a corrections officer at the Suffolk County House of Corrections in Boston. He will be joined by his brother Kevin.
- Juliette Brown-Perry, 47, of AFSCME Local 2081 (Council 31), is an administrative case reviewer at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in Chicago. She will be joined by her daughter Juliette Brown.
Fay could be speaking for the group when he says: "I don’t know how we’ll do, but we intend to give it our best. Just being there should be fun."
