CBTU to Meet in Minneapolis
African-American union members are invited to join the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists in Minneapolis, Minn., May 20-25 for the 27th National Convention of the 10,000-member group.
The convention takes place at a crucial time, as the November ’98 elections approach. The CBTU agenda will analyze key issues, including welfare reform, preparing for the elections, prostate cancer in black males, the education system, the living wage, and financial planning for retirement.
William Lucy, secretary-treasurer of AFSCME International, serves as president of CBTU and is a principal speaker and conference leader. The event will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Registrations are still being taken and will be taken on-site.
