New IVP for New England

By

Michael Ferrucci Jr., executive director of AFSCME Council 4 in Connecticut, was recently elected to the post of International vice president for the Southern New England Legislative District, which includes Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Ferrucci has been director of Council 4 since December 1997. He will continue to direct the council, which represents more than 33,000 public-sector and other employees in Connecticut.

Prior to joining Council 4, Ferrucci was executive director of AFSCME Connecticut State Employees Council 16. The two councils merged in 1977. Under Ferrucci’s leadership, Council 16 successfully led a fight for collective bargaining rights for state employees.

Last December, Ferrucci was elected executive vice president of the Connecticut AFL-CIO after having served as an executive board member of the state organization.
