AFSCME-Mobile

By

COON RAPIDS, MINNESOTA

Lois Willock’s new Saturn is not just a means of transportation — it is an AFSCME organizer.

The president of Local 22 and a Council 6 executive board member, Willock is so dedicated to her union that she has four times turned down promotions that would have taken her out of her bargaining unit. Friends at Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety know how much AFSCME means to her and, when the “AFSCME” license plate became available, they notified her.

The plate had belonged to Local 3142 (Council 6) past-president Debbie Anderson since vanity plates became available in Minnesota in 1981. Anderson moved out of Minnesota last year.

Willock’s AFSCME-mobile attracts a lot of attention. She has been surprised at how many people ask her union-related questions — even members of other state employee unions.
