Anniversary Winner

AFSCME Advantage scholarship winner Iva Pokorny was recognized at a 10th anniversary celebration of the Union Privilege scholarship program. Iva's family escaped from Czechoslovakia when she was six and lived in a German refugee camp for two years. Her mother, Yvetta, is an animal keeper at the Bronx Zoo, where she is represented by Local 1501 (DC 37). AFL-CIO Pres. John Sweeney and Union Privilege Pres. Leslie Tolf congratulated the Pokornys.
