Cover the Uninsured Week — March 10-16
According to recent U.S. Census figures, more than 41 million Americans have no health insurance. And eight out of 10 of those uninsured are in working families. As the economy weakens, that number is growing.
Describing this problem as one of the biggest health challenges in the United States, a coalition of organizations, including AFSCME, has declared March 10-16 "Cover the Uninsured Week" — co-chaired by former Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. Plans call for a series of highly publicized grassroots activities around the country, with a national event in Washington, D.C.
