Signs of the Times

TACOMA, WASHINGTON

Members of Local 120 (Washington Council 2) made picket signs and protested the longest contract negotiations in City of Tacoma history. The protests helped break the deadlock: At press time, the 27-month impasse ended when members overwhelmingly approved a deal calling for a 1-percent COLA (vs. the 0 percent offered) and pay-cut protection for workers threatened with substantial end-of-year cuts.
