New Program to Feature Online Activist Training

Delegates to AFSCME’s 2006 International Convention approved the historicPower to Win plan of the 21st Century Initiative — a bold, new strategy to grow our union and increase our bargaining and political power.

Power to Win is the result of a two-year effort involving leaders and activists from across the country. Repeatedly, they said the best way to build a stronger union is to get more people involved and give them the training they need to be effective.

The result is the new AFSCME Leadership Academy for activists, staff and leaders. The Academy will premiere in April with Web Track, offering AFSCME activists hour-long, online training modules on:

  • Advocating for health care reform
  • Local union treasurers’ training
  • Effective communications
  • Orientation to AFSCME and Power to Win
