Council 66 Pres./ Exec. Director Anthony Gingello has been appointed AFSCME International Vice President for New York State. Gingello has been president of Local 1635 for 24 years and in his Council 66 position since 1993. He previously served as International vice president during the 1980s....Jean Nolan is AFSCME's new Public Affairs Dept. Director. Before coming to AFSCME, she was HUD's assistant secretary for public affairs. Nolan worked the housing and communications beat at Housing & Development Reporter and was director of communications and publications for the late James Rouse's The Enterprise Foundation....Ken Dermota has been named Editor of AFSCME's Public Employee. He was an ILGWU organizer for nearly ten years and worked as editor and investigative reporter in Colombia, South America, where he was twice elected president of the Foreign Press Association. He has also worked for Business Week, The Boston Globe and National Public Radio....Marilyn Sneiderman has been appointed AFL-CIO Field Services Director. She began her union career as a member of Wisconsin AFSCME Local 144 and came to work at the International on an Education Dept. internship, then moved to Community Action and Public Policy. Sneiderman went on to the George Meany Center for Labor Studies where she co-authored the popular Organizing Guide for Local Unions. Her most recent position was as Teamsters education director.
