Parisi Scholarship Winner

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA

Joyce Carlson’s dream of completing work toward a bachelor’s degree is well within her grasp.

Carlson is this year’s winner of the Joey Parisi Memorial Scholarship, named after the late AFSCME organizer. The scholarship, covers Carlson’s tuition and room and board at the George Meany Center for Labor Studies in Silver Spring, Md.

“For the past 10 years, I’ve put my college education on the back burner while working on various organizing campaigns,” says Carlson, a former member of the Minnesota Council 14 executive board and past president of Local 707.
