Luciano Voted IVP

By

New Britain, Connecticut

Running without opposition, Salvatore Luciano, executive director of Council 4, was elected International vice president for the Southern New England Legislative District. His formal installation took place at the March meeting of the International Executive Board. Born near Naples, Italy, Luciano, 44, arrived in the United States as a boy with his family and settled in Connecticut. He became both a social worker and a Local 2663 steward in 1980, and worked his way up to the presidency of the local. In just over a decade, he increased its membership from under 1,000 to almost 2,500, and he supported a class action suit against the state Department of Children and Youth Services — where he began his career. In 1999, Luciano was elected president of Council 4.
