Saint Mychal?

By

NEW YORK CITY

The Rev. Mychal Judge, a member of Local 299 (DC 37), was featured in a USA Today article that explores the possibility of his being canonized.

A Roman Catholic chaplain for the New York City Fire Department, Judge was killed in the South Tower as he kneeled to administer last rights to a mortally injured firefighter during the 9/11 attacks.

According to the newspaper article, it must be proved that Judge's "intercession after his death led to two miracles." A Newport, R.I., firefighter says that prayer to the deceased priest helped cure his 4-year-old son, who was suffering from delayed cognitive and communication skills. And a Colorado woman claims that prayers to Judge healed a hole in her baby's heart.

The sainthood process can officially begin after he has been dead for five years. For more information on his followers' and fans' call for sainthood, go to Saint Mychal.
