AFSCME Family Scholarships

Ten students have won AFSCME Family Scholarships for 2004. All are children of AFSCME members. William Stotlar DeKrey, son of Minnesota Local 34 (Council 14) member Catherine DeKrey; Marcus Adam Gonzales,son of Colorado Local 1335 (Council 76) member Esther Gonzales; Alissa Greenwald, daughter of Washington Local 1181 (Council 28) member Lynne Greenwald; Rachel Elizabeth Jordan, daughter of Local 421 (Ohio Association of Public School Employees/AFSCME Local 4) member Wayne Jordan; Jacqueline May Youn Min Kahan; daughter of New York DC 37 Retiree Chapter member Marilyn Kahan; Britta Lindh, daughter of Wisconsin Local 279A (Council 40) member Diane Lindh; Brendan O'Malley, son of New York Civil Service Employees Association/AFSCME Local 1000 member Ellen Hammond-O'Malley; Amber Parker, daughter of Illinois Local 448 (Council 31) member Elaine Parker; Dahlia Raymond,daughter of New York Local 372 (DC 37) member Hadriana Raymond; and Brendan Spirko, son of Pennsylvania Local 2583 (Council 83) member Patricia Spirko.

The $2,000 scholarships are renewable for up to four years — for full-time course work toward a college degree.

AFSCME gives 10 scholarships each year. To be eligible for consideration, a student must be a high school senior who will graduate in the spring of 2005 and whose parent or legal guardian is an AFSCME member.
