AFSCME will again be awarding 10 scholarships to the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans program in 1997. Since 1968, Presidential Classroom has introduced outstanding high school students to Washington, D.C., and the inner workings of our political system.

Interested high school students who are children of active AFSCME members should submit applications postmarked no later than January 10, 1997. To qualify, a student must be a high school junior or senior, have a GPA of at least 3.0, be involved with school or community activities, and be a child of a current AFSCME member.

Winners will be announced by February 1, and the program will take place March 15 to 22, 1997.
