A New Century of Leaders
By Susan Ellen Holleran
This is election year — not only for national political offices but also for AFSCME's president, secretary-treasurer and 31 vice presidents. As one of their primary responsibilities, the 3,284 Convention delegates chose the team to lead AFSCME into the 21st century.
AFSCME Pres. Gerald W. McEntee and Sec.-Treas. William Lucy were re-elected, by acclamation, for their fifth term together.
Convention delegates from their respective AFSCME legislative districts chose the following vice presidents. The names of the six new vice presidents are in boldface; defeated candidates are listed in parentheses.
