More than 2,000 Michigan Council 25 members and their families swelled the ranks of marchers in Detroit for the Metropolitan Detroit and Michigan AFL-CIO councils' annual Labor Day Parade. "Marching to Protect Health Care, Pensions, and Social Security" was the theme of the event, which drew some 47,000 participants. Standing out in the throng: Michigan's large community of child care providers. Some 200 of them, with their families, took part in connection with their campaign to organize a union with Child Care Providers Together (CCPT)/AFSCME.
