Fighting on Two Fronts

Hoosier State workers who belong to Council 62 have plenty to complain about under anti-labor Gov. Mitch Daniels (R). At the Larue D. Carter Hospital in Indianapolis, above, members of Local 3730 protest Daniels' plan to turn over Department of Family Service eligibility operations to a private contractor. Members of Local 1230 also participated in the rally. In Elkhart County, below, Local 3060 demonstrate solidarity by rallying in protest of a different outrage: the county commissioners' Daniels-like move to withdraw recognition of Local 1337, which for 50 years has represented Elkhart's highway-maintenance workers.
