Wall of Honor

Wall of Honor

This recently installed “I Am a Man” mural in Washington, DC, was inspired by an iconic photo of the striking Memphis sanitation workers of AFSCME Local 1733. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. addressed the workers the day before he was gunned down. The mural, by artist JR (that’s his full name), is at 14th and T Streets in the city and serves as a larger-than-life reminder of the struggles of the American labor movement and all workers.
