Substitution
You do not have to worry about a hazard if it is not there. One way to get rid of a hazard is to replace a dangerous situation with one that is not.
Chemicals can be switched, or substituted. A chemical that causes cancer may be replaced with a chemical that does not. Maybe no chemical is needed at all. For example, mowing weeds eliminates the need to use toxic sprays to kill weeds.
Injuries from lifting heavy objects can be reduced by buying goods in smaller containers.
