For IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, March 15, 2004 AFSCME Members Now Serve Union Plus Education Services Program
WASHINGTON — The Union Plus Education Services program has a new unionized provider — American Education Services (AES), which employs approximately 1,000 American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) members. AES is one of the largest, full-service, financial aid and educational assistance organizations in the nation. It is a nonprofit organization that has four decades of experience with providing students and their families with affordable access to higher education. "We are pleased to be working with AES, a unionized company and a leader in creating affordable access to higher education," says Leslie Tolf, president of Union Privilege. "Rising tuition costs and cuts in federal and state funding are making higher education more difficult to afford for working families. The Union Plus Education Services program can help working families realize their dreams for a higher education."
