Daschle, Specter, Pelosi, to Address AFSCME Legislative Conference

Labor and Political Leaders Converge to Craft Legislative Agenda

— Democratic Senate and House Minority leaders Tom Daschle (D-SD), and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), and AFSCME President Gerald W. McEntee will be among the featured speakers at the Biennial Legislative Conference of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO. The two-day conference will be held March 17-18 at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC.

AFSCME leaders and activists from across the country will come together to address the worst state budget crisis since World War II, the impact of President Bush's tax cuts, skyrocketing health care costs, and other issues.

Speakers also include Representatives Artur Davis (D-AL); Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-OH); AFSCME International Secretary-Treasurer William Lucy; and Robert Kuttner, President and Co-Editor of The American Prospect.
