Finding Out About Your Credit Rating
The Fair Credit Reporting Act gives you the right to know what your credit file contains and the right to get a copy of your credit report. Here are the three major national credit reporting agencies that maintain information from creditors about consumer debt:

Trans Union P.O. Box 390 Springfield, PA 19064-0390 (800) 916-8800 (to request reports) (800) 680-7293 (to opt out) (800) 680-7289 (to report fraud)
If you have been turned down for credit within the last 60 days, you are entitled to a free credit report from all three credit bureaus. If not, reports usually cost $8.
