 LA & City Workers Reach Agreement A recently ratified agreement covering about 20,000 Los Angeles city employees – members of AFSCME Council 36 – will prevent threatened layoffs and furloughs, avert wage cuts, forestall major service reductions and help the city balance its budget. Minnesota AFSCME Members OK Winning Contract Minnesota state employees represented by AFSCME Council 5 have overwhelmingly ratified a new two-year contract that beats back threatened wage cuts, health insurance take-backs and furloughs. Deal Avoids Furloughs in Pennsylvania PA state employees, including those represented by AFSCME Council 13, have reached an agreement to prevent the state from balancing its budget through furloughs and job cuts.
