No Cuts to Food Aid for Hungry Children

This week, the House will vote on Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA)’s proposal to enact cuts to SNAP food aid programs that are twice as large the cuts that were originally proposed. This would leave millions without the vital nutritional assistance they desperately need.

Nearly one out of four Americans (24 percent) say they had trouble putting food on the table in the past 12 months — making the United States stand out among wealthy nations in the percentage of its citizens struggling to afford life’s basic necessities.

Cutting food assistance to families, including children and low-income seniors, is simply the wrong thing to do.
