AFSCME WV Council 77 represents thousands of public employees and retirees throughout West Virginia. We are currently looking for an Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directing staff in implementing the goals and policies of the Union and its executive board.
- Providing hands-on representational assistance to our Local unions in all matters related to contractual administration.
- Assisting in the development of the strategic plans of the Council.
- Implementing the policies and procedures for the administrative operations of the Council.
- Creating the Union’s internal and external communications strategies.
- Serving as the Union’s official spokesperson in all capacities, including contract negotiations.
- Developing and implementing the Union’s legislative program, including lobbying on behalf of the membership.
- Preparing and submitting an annual operating budget for approval by the Executive board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a BA or BS degree and have at least three years experience in labor relations or other relevant union employment.
- Knowledge of legislative actions, contract negotiations, and effective communication capabilities.
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of union members, other labor organizations, public officials and community and constituent groups.
- Working knowledge of computers and technology, budgeting, and administrative processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise personnel towards position goals and to work within deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Salary starts in the high $40,000s and is negotiable based on experience. We offer excellent benefits including single health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
