This position provides general and clerical assistance to the Information Technology Department in support of the successful maintenance of specific AFSCME programs. Serves as the primary point of contact on the Information Technology Department’s hotline.

DUTIES:                      

  • Answer incoming calls from the IT Help Desk as well as receives e-mail requests and work orders and enters items into Track-it system.  Send Requestor Track-It work order numbers in email. 
  • Handle routine requests for information and provides status of computer network to callers. 
  • Route calls and deliver messages for staff in a timely manner. 
  • Distribute daily departmental mail.
  • Required to perform other routing clerical duties associated with this function.
  • Serve as back up for Administrative Assistant, handling mail, bills, invoices, EAFs and CEAFs.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned and acts as back up to other support staff.  

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Skills:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of work experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of modern office equipment such as copier, fax machines, telephone and other similar office equipment.
  • Written and verbal communications skills proficient to exchange routine department information, and to provide spelling and punctuation proofreading and ability to compose simple correspondence.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 software.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
  • Incumbent should be familiar with computers and technology in order to effectively enter and respond and solve IT Help desk calls.
