WHEREAS:

Voter registration procedures in a democracy should be as quick and convenient, as possible, provided there is adequate protection against fraud; and

WHEREAS:

Driver license renewal procedures in all fifty states are designed to be quick, convenient, and fraud-resistant; and

WHEREAS:

Change of residence requires driver's license renewal and voter registration renewal, two official processes that can be conveniently done at the same time.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME supports state and federal legislation to piggyback voter registration procedures onto driver's license renewals in all fifty states.
