Resolution No. 42
43rd International Convention
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center
July 16 - 20, 2018
Boston, MA

WHEREAS:

The wealthy and the corporations they control have been waging a 40-year-long class war against working Americans; and

WHEREAS:

Those powerful interests are keeping Americans divided by directing the dialogue and making us focus only on issues dearest to us; and

WHEREAS:

Activists in movements such as Occupy, Black Lives Matter, election reform, climate action, LGBTQ rights, Poor People's Campaign and Standing Rock, are fighting the same oppressors as the labor movement; and

WHEREAS:

We must support all struggles against the all too powerful moneyed interests.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME strongly urges its members to offer their support to all progressive movements in their continuing fight against all entities that are undermining the American way.
